GIS SERVICES
aci consulting staff have a comprehensive knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and use them extensively in during assessments to ensure the accuracy of mapping data. Field scientists use hand-held GPSs to mark the exact locations of their findings in the field. Then, the data is downloaded into the latest versions of ESRI ArcGIS to create an accurate graphical representation of information for our clients.
In addition to basic mapping applications, aci consulting staff uses GIS/GPS technologies to perform higher-level analyses. By superimposing aerial images with additional layers of map data, we can perform in-depth investigations of the potential impacts of large-scale state highway projects on surrounding communities. GPS survey data can be layered with other spatial data layers to assess golden-cheeked warbler and black-capped vireo habitat. Image analyses of the spatial relationships between karst zones and sensitive geologic features help in the visualization and support of land management planning decisions.
GIS/GPS technologies benefit aci consulting clients by providing a versatile system in which spatial data layers acquired from different sources (digitized maps, remote sensing imagery, GPS data) can be superimposed to provide decision-making and policy-making support. This data can then be transformed into multi-layered maps, tables, and diagrams to be presented in client reports.
aci consulting employs a highly qualified GIS team dedicated to meeting client needs. Our high resolution maps meet high cartographic standards. We maintain a data library of soils, geology, historic maps, historic aerials, and other records.
aci’s GIS team provides:
- GPS data incorporation,
- CAD and Micro station translation,
- Site mapping,
- Georeferencing and digitizing,
- Predictive modeling, and
- Slope and terrain analysis.
