Cultural Resources
aci consulting has conducted Cultural Resource Site Assessments for county and state road projects, public and private landowners, and commercial real estate. aci consulting cultural resource personnel have experience working with all levels of government and maintain a close working relationship with the Texas Historical Commission, the Texas Department of Transportation, and the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Following is a brief description of some cultural resources projects that aci consulting has completed.
Wyoming Springs Proposed Improvement Area
aci consulting was commissioned to conduct archaeological surveys of the Wyoming Springs Project Area, which includes the proposed extensions of Wyoming Springs Road, Great Oaks Drive, O’Connor Drive, and Deep Wood Drive in southwestern Williamson County, Texas. The total Area of Potential Effect for this project was 245 acres. aci consulting field personnel conducted a thorough field investigation including a pedestrian survey and shovel tests.
Various Unique Bridges in Williamson County
aci consulting was commissioned to conduct archaeological surveys of the United States Army Corps of Engineers Permit Area for various unique wooden bridges in Williamson County, Texas. The bridges were carefully examined and their historical significance was assessed by aci consulting archaeologists. The examination of the subject areas included pedestrian surveys, shovel tests, and backhoe trenches. Trenches were excavated where terrace deposits could have preserved intact archaeological sites.
Brushy Creek Trail System
aci consulting was commissioned to conduct a primary archaeological investigation for phase1a of the proposed Brushy Creek Trail System in Williamson County, Texas. The trail system is a 7.75 mile hike and bike trail located along Brushy Creek in southwestern Williamson County. aci consulting archaeologists surveyed the 2.4 mile long trail corridor for prehistoric sites and also performed a secondary delineation of a previously recorded prehistoric site.
McNeil Road Improvement Area
aci consulting was commissioned to conduct archaeological surveys of the McNeil Road improvement area, which includes areas between the existing McNeil Drive and CR 172. The total Area of Potential Effect for this project was 67.9 acres. aci consulting field personnel conducted a thorough field investigation including a pedestrian survey and shovel tests.
Historical Survey for State Highway 79
aci consulting conducted secondary source research and a reconnaissance level survey along an approximate 11 mile section of State Highway 79 from CR 101 to the eastern county line. Qualified aci consulting historians systematically examined the project area for the existence of any pre-1950 properties that may be potentially eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Any pre-1950 properties discovered were assessed by aci consulting historians and recommendations were made pertaining to potential listing of the property.
