Geologic Assessment
Geologic Assessments (GA's) are required by TCEQ if development will occur within the recharge transition zones of the Edwards Aquifer. The purpose of a GA is to identify sensitive features within the subject area. Sensitive features include geologic features that potentially could provide recharge to the Edwards Aquifer (i.e. karst features such as caves, sinkholes, depressions, and springs). If a potential feature is identified as sensitive, a buffer or setback for the feature may be required. The distance of the setback or buffer is determined by drainage, topography, and the potential for recharge to the aquifer.
All GA's are prepared according to TCEQ guidelines outlind in Publication 0585, "Instructions to Geologists for preparation of Geologic Assessment Within the Recharge Transition Zone"
aci consulting geologists prepare GA's for various private and public sector projects on the recharge and transition zones. In accordance with TCEQ requirements, all GA's are signed and sealed by a Geoscientist licensed by the State of Texas.
aci consulting also processes TCEQ "Exception Requests" for early project coordination with TCEQ prior to Water Pollution Abatement Plan (WPAP) submittal.
