Geological Assessment

Geologic Assessments (GA) are required if development potentially will occur on or near the recharge and transition zones of the Edwards Aquifer. The purpose of a GA is to identify sensitive features within the subject area. Sensitive features include geologic features that potentially could provide recharge to the Edwards Aquifer (i.e. karst features such as caves, sinkholes, depressions, and springs). If a potential feature is declared sensitive, a buffer surrounding the feature may be required. The distance around the feature is determined by topography and the potential for recharge.
