Ann M. Scott
Ann M. Scott, a Registered Professional Archaeologist, is the Director of Cultural Resources at aci consulting overseeing all operations involving cultural resources for the company, including supervising personnel and managing projects. She recently earned her PhD in Latin American Studies from The University of Texas at Austin. She received a MA in Anthropology from Northern Illinois University and a BS degree from Central Michigan University. Ann brings over 25 years of archeological experience and has worked for the National Park Service, the State of Wisconsin, the State of Illinois, and various private consulting firms in the Midwest and Texas. She has supervised numerous projects in the Central Texas region focusing on prehistoric life-ways, historic military and ranching activities, as well as assessed and protected cultural resources discovered in karst or cave environments.
In addition to a successful career in cultural resource management, Ann has a long record of conducting research in Latin America. She has participated in archeological research in Peru, Bolivia, Honduras, Guatemala, and Belize. Ann also specializes in Mesoamerican cave archeology studying the use of caves in a ritual context. Her dissertation research examined contemporary Maya use of sacred space among the Kaqchikel Maya in the southern Highlands of Guatemala. More recently, she was Assistant Director of a Maya cave archeology project in central Belize in charge of the ceramic analysis for the project.
